Job Summary

The Cocktail Server is responsible for providing exceptional service to guests in a timely and professional manner, adhering to established standards and procedures. This role requires a strong knowledge of beverages, mixology, and wine, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure friendly and attentive service to all guests, making beverages and serving food according to established procedures and standards.
  • Take orders for all beverage requests from guests and service staff, using suggestive selling techniques to promote food and beverage sales.
  • Proficiently manage the bar, including measuring drinks, following recipes, and maintaining a clean and organized workspace.
  • Responsible for bar keys and bank, ensuring their safe return and deposit at the end of each shift.
  • Accountable for charging for drinks before producing them and securing payment from guests.
  • Clear and reset the bar during service, cleaning bar and glassware throughout the shift.
  • Maintain positive communication with service personnel, directing barbacks as needed.
  • Display knowledge of house wines, mixology, after-dinner cocktails, and beverage lists.
  • Make managers aware of all guest comments and complaints, maintaining a high level of customer satisfaction.
  • Familiar with Colorado liquor laws, ensuring that intoxicated guests or minors are not served.
  • Carry tools necessary to perform the job, such as corkscrews, lighters, pens, and notepads.
  • Knowledgeable of Forbes 5-star standards and adhere to them in every aspect of the operation.
  • Assist other departments as business volumes and staff levels demand, completing tasks and projects delegated by the manager.
  • Report to work in a neatly groomed and acceptable manner, as outlined in the employee handbook.
  • Comply with all policies and procedures for the Food and Beverage department, The Little Nell, and The Aspen One.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Six months minimum CMS Introductory Sommelier certification.
  • Actively studying for CMS Certified Sommelier Diploma.
  • Advanced beverage knowledge.
  • Ability to work well with others.
  • Ability to handle money and essential math skills.
  • Command of the English language.

Work Environment and Physical Demands

  • Ability to reach, crouch, kneel, stand, walk, or be on your feet for extended periods.
  • Regularly work in wet, hot, and humid conditions for extended periods and may be required to walk on slippery and uneven surfaces.
  • Must be able to frequently lift, push, or pull up to 50 lbs. individually or with assistance.
