Automated Optical Inspection Technician

OBJECTIVE OF THE ROLE
The primary goal of this position is to verify that the in-process or final products adhere to specified standards prior to further processing or dispatch to clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct precise automated optical inspection (AOI) of assemblies during production phases, including both start-up and shut-down procedures.
- Perform routine and non-routine maintenance on inspection equipment as scheduled.
- Gain a comprehensive understanding of all production processes related to inspection; apply industry standards and sound judgment to assess acceptable quality levels. Interpret documentation related to production phases, including customer-provided blueprints and parts lists.
- Immediately halt production and notify the Group Leader of any errors or significant discrepancies to facilitate prompt corrective measures.
- Document all AOI daily operational data, maintaining accurate and thorough records.
- Ensure that rejected items are clearly separated from accepted products.
- Adhere to Virtex's Quality Management System and comply with any relevant regulatory and statutory requirements as mandated by clients.
- Take initiative in continuous on-the-job training by actively engaging in training sessions led by designated Virtex personnel or external trainers.
ADDITIONAL DUTIES
- Provide assistance with visual inspections as required.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives and support the Virtex Quality Policy through responsible actions.
- Contribute to a safe working environment by following safety protocols, reporting safety issues, and participating in scheduled wellness breaks.
POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Must be at least 18 years old.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred, or relevant work experience.
- Experience: Basic math and data entry skills are essential. Familiarity with electronic assembly and inspection processes is advantageous.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to perform tasks requiring high manual dexterity and repetition while seated or standing for extended periods (up to 8 to 10 hours). Capable of lifting, pushing, and pulling weights between 10 to 25 pounds. Good eyesight is necessary, including the ability to adjust focus and distinguish colors.
- Mental Requirements: Ability to read and comprehend documents such as blueprints, bills of materials, workmanship standards, and equipment manuals. Skills in problem-solving, confidentiality, basic mathematics, and effective verbal and written communication are essential.
- Equipment Utilized: Hand tools, calipers, microscopes, ring lights, meters, copiers, and computers.
