Accounting Specialist

Job Overview:

The Accounting Specialist will report directly to the Controller and will oversee various daily financial operations with an emphasis on accounts payable management. Key responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:
  • Cross-train on all aspects of Accounts Payable processes.
  • Assist in onboarding new vendors by ensuring all necessary documentation is collected.
  • Support daily freight auditing tasks.
  • Address and resolve disputes with freight service providers.
  • Input accounts payable invoices into the financial management system.
  • Extract and evaluate freight account data using Excel, ensuring accurate coding for general ledger entries.
  • Examine monthly vendor aging reports to identify outstanding invoices.
  • Perform additional accounting-related tasks as required.
Required Skills:
  • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP principles.
  • Experience in maintaining accurate financial records.
  • Ability to prepare comprehensive reports.
  • Capable of managing multiple priorities effectively.
  • Proficient in utilizing technology for communication, data collection, and reporting.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
Qualifications and Essential Functions:

A Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or a related field, along with a minimum of 2 years of relevant accounting experience is preferred.

This role requires prolonged periods of sitting and working at a computer workstation; the ability to multitask, solve problems, and prioritize daily responsibilities; excellent organizational and record-keeping capabilities; and comfort with both oral and written communication. The position necessitates extended periods of sitting, normal walking, bending, twisting, and stretching. Visual and auditory capabilities are essential. The individual must be able to handle stressful situations and may occasionally need to work extended hours. To excel in this role, the candidate must effectively perform each essential duty.
