Job Overview

The Healthcare Services Supervisor plays a crucial role in overseeing specialized tasks associated with the management and execution of patient dietary requirements within hospital and long-term care environments. This position serves as a vital link between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services, ensuring seamless communication and service delivery.

Key Responsibilities
  • Supervises the activities of Patient Services Workers during meal delivery, ensuring timely provision of nourishments and snacks as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
  • Engages with patients to familiarize them with the offerings of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
  • Collects and communicates patient food preferences and restrictions to the relevant departments.
  • Facilitates the provision of nutrition care orders by assisting patients in selecting appropriate menu options.
  • Maintains high standards of sanitation by adhering to established cleaning protocols and completing assigned sanitation tasks.
  • Leads, trains, and supports Patient Services Workers in their roles, fostering a collaborative environment focused on patient care.
  • Conducts inventory checks and replenishes supplies in pantries, refrigerators, and freezers within designated units.
  • Monitors and records temperature logs for unit refrigeration and freezing units.
  • Applies knowledge of therapeutic diets to ensure compliance with established protocols and assists in correcting any discrepancies.
  • Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure that all patients' nutritional needs are adequately addressed.

Qualifications
  • Proven experience in a supervisory role within Patient Services is essential.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, with effective verbal and written communication abilities.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a keen eye for detail and accuracy.
  • Proficiency in English is required; bilingual candidates are preferred but not mandatory.

This position may involve physical demands such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. Uniforms and/or Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) may be required.
