Nutrition Services Team Leader

The Healthcare Services Supervisor plays a pivotal role in overseeing specialized functions associated with the management and execution of patient dietary orders within healthcare facilities. This position serves as a crucial link between patients, the Food and Nutrition Services Department, and Nursing Services, ensuring seamless communication and support. The Supervisor is also responsible for mentoring and guiding Patient Services Workers in their duties.
Key Responsibilities- Oversees the activities of Patient Services Workers during meal distribution, ensuring timely delivery of food items as prescribed by healthcare professionals.
- Engages with patients to familiarize them with the offerings of the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
- Collects dietary preferences and aversions from patients and their families to enhance meal satisfaction.
- Effectively communicates patient dietary requirements to the relevant teams within the Food and Nutrition Services Department.
- Ensures compliance with nutrition care orders by providing suitable menu options to patients.
- Maintains high standards of cleanliness by adhering to established sanitation protocols and completing assigned cleaning tasks.
- Provides leadership, training, and support to Patient Services Workers, fostering a collaborative environment.
- Conducts inventory checks and replenishes supplies in pantries, refrigerators, and freezers within designated units.
- Monitors and records temperature logs for unit refrigeration and freezing equipment.
- Possesses a thorough understanding of therapeutic diets and assists in correcting any discrepancies in diet orders.
- Collaborates with clinical staff to ensure that all patients' nutritional needs are adequately addressed.

Qualifications- Prior experience in a supervisory role within patient services is essential.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities and strong interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Strong organizational skills with a keen attention to detail and accuracy.
- Proficiency in English is required; bilingual skills are advantageous but not mandatory.
This position may involve physical tasks such as lifting, bending, pushing, pulling, and extended periods of walking and standing. Additionally, it may require the use of uniforms and personal protective equipment (PPE).
