Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Executive Director to lead our organization, the Minnesota Council of Nonprofits, in its mission to promote and support the nonprofit sector in Minnesota. The successful candidate will have a strong background in community development, program management, and local government, with a proven track record of success in leading teams and managing budgets.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement community-wide plans, including racial equity and strategic action plans, in collaboration with the board of directors and community stakeholders.
  • Prepare and submit annual work plans and budgets to the City of St. Paul, and report on progress and outcomes.
  • Manage and supervise staff, interns, and volunteers, and provide guidance and support to ensure the successful implementation of programs and services.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, including local government agencies, businesses, and residents, to promote the organization's mission and goals.
  • Manage and oversee the organization's finances, including budget preparation, financial reporting, and grant writing.
  • Develop and implement fundraising strategies to support the organization's programs and services.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the board of directors, and work collaboratively with them to achieve the organization's goals and objectives.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in a relevant field, such as public administration, non-profit management, or community development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in community development, program management, and/or local government.
  • Proven track record of success in leading teams and managing budgets.
  • Strong knowledge of local government and political processes, and ability to build relationships with community stakeholders.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse groups and individuals.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of nonprofit management and governance principles.
  • Experience with grant writing and fundraising.
  • Ability to speak a language other than English, such as Somali, Hmong, or Spanish.
