Position Overview

We are seeking a dedicated part-time Clinical Laboratory Specialist to become a vital member of our team.

Role Responsibilities

This role entails executing and interpreting intricate medical laboratory assessments and protocols that necessitate independent decision-making under supervision.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Receives, processes, and evaluates all laboratory samples in accordance with testing and specimen specifications, identifying and investigating any irregular, inconsistent, or abnormal outcomes to ensure precise results.
  • Prepares reagents and controls adhering to established procedures and labeling in compliance with regulatory standards. Engages in proficiency assessments as per regulatory requirements and maintains accurate departmental documentation.
  • Conducts quality control measures as specified by procedures and adheres to departmental guidelines to guarantee the reliability of test outcomes.
  • Consistently adheres to departmental protocols for prioritizing tests, ensuring specimen appropriateness and handling to deliver timely and accurate results that enhance patient care.
  • Identifies and resolves issues arising in pre-analytical, analytical, or post-analytical phases.
  • Complies with all safety protocols and procedures within the hospital and department, including infection control policies.
  • Regularly performs phlebotomy in accordance with departmental protocols to ensure high-quality specimens, catering to diverse patient demographics including varying ages, cultures, languages, literacy levels, and learning needs.
Qualifications:

Education:
  • Associate's degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or a related discipline.
Licensure & Certification:
  • Current certification as a Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT) from the National Board of Registry, American Society Clinical Pathology (ASCP). If not available at the time of hire, must obtain within one year of employment.
Experience & Skills:

Required:
  • Proficient knowledge and skills to provide technical guidance and communicate effectively with other departments regarding clinical laboratory procedures.
Preferred:
  • 1-2 years of relevant experience.
