Role Responsibilities:

We are in search of a Quality Assurance/Quality Control Specialist who is driven, a collaborative team member, eager to learn, and passionate about the food manufacturing sector. Key responsibilities will involve ensuring compliance with quality and food safety standards for food, beverages, ingredients, and supplies sourced from our co-manufacturers and co-packers through thorough documentation and regular facility assessments. This includes the development of a risk-based electronic and physical audit framework in partnership with the QA/QC team, as well as engaging in projects aimed at enhancing our safety and quality evaluation processes.

  • Lead the supplier approval program at Tasty Brands SK’s co-manufacturing and co-packaging sites to ensure adherence to QA/QC policies and standards.
  • Collaborate with various departments on all aspects of product launches and compliance verification, including sourcing, production, facility safety, training, and materials management.
  • Plan, execute, and assess projects while upholding food safety and regulatory standards pertinent to menu development.
  • Assist in product development initiatives for brand-specific tastings.
  • Establish safety compliance benchmarks for new and existing products utilizing laboratory resources (shelf life, microbiological analysis, storage guidelines, etc.).
  • Address technical safety concerns and feedback regarding complaints or comments that arise during product development, production, handling, or performance.
  • Timely documentation of audit reports and follow-up actions to promote risk mitigation.
  • Collaborate with QA/QC to devise programs and strategies aimed at minimizing product risks.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of experience in food production and processing; comprehensive understanding of food safety standards, HAACP, and Serve Safe Certification; basic culinary knowledge related to equipment and technical skills.
  • Experience in auditing or consulting, or familiarity with these processes (Department of Health audits, FSSC, AIB, etc.).
  • Proven leadership capabilities, with a track record of influencing and facilitating constructive change across various organizations and levels.
  • Strong inclination towards action, with the ability to identify opportunities and risks early and take appropriate measures.
  • Highly organized, self-driven, and passionate about auditing.
  • Ability to work independently and travel up to 40% of the time (nationwide).
  • Understanding of production equipment and processing services.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
