Job Summary

Geisinger Health System is seeking a skilled Registered Nurse to join our team in the Advanced Acute Care unit. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with interdisciplinary teams to achieve exceptional patient outcomes.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Direct and guide patient teaching and activities of ancillary personnel.
  • Provide direct patient care, including treatments, medications, and diagnostic studies, according to policy and procedure.
  • Complete assessments as established by scope of practice and unit standards.
  • Address physical, psychological, social, cultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout the continuum of care.
  • Formulate, coordinate, and provide a plan of care as established in unit standards, including patient and family education, family needs, and discharge planning throughout hospitalization with members of the interdisciplinary team.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness of nursing interventions and revise the plan of care based on patient response to interventions.
  • Initiate collaboration with physicians, ancillary personnel, and other interdisciplinary team members and take action to proactively resolve and facilitate patient needs.
  • Make assignments in collaboration with other team members and direct and alter assignments in response to changes in patient needs.
  • Participate in unit-based decision-making regarding the utilization of evidence-based practice.
  • Actively participate as a team member working toward team goals of the unit and organization and be accountable for unit and system-specific metrics.
  • Support and participate in initiatives that support the Magnet mission.
  • Actively participate in patient quality and safety education programs and other activities designed to improve departmental and organizational quality and safety.
Requirements
  • Graduate from a Specialty Training Program-Nursing.
  • Certification(s) and License(s): Basic Life Support Certification, Licensed Registered Nurse (Pennsylvania).
  • Skills: Clinical Skills, Communication, Interpersonal Communication, Organizing, Preceptor Skills, Teamwork.
