Lead Wealth Management Advisor

The Wealth Management Advisor is responsible for achieving revenue targets through the acquisition of new clientele and the retention and growth of an existing portfolio. This role involves consulting and coordinating the delivery of comprehensive wealth management solutions tailored for individuals, business proprietors, and families. Additionally, the advisor will mentor a select group of Private Client Advisors, providing guidance throughout the client relationship planning process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the client relationship team, ensuring clients have access to the full range of resources and solutions offered by the firm. Collaborate closely with Client Managers, Private Banking, Investment Advisors, and Fiduciary Advisors to evaluate clients' financial circumstances, aspirations, and objectives to identify suitable solutions through the financial planning process. Prioritize both immediate and long-term client needs based on thorough analysis.
- Develop and implement sales strategies aimed at expanding the client base. Actively promote and sell the comprehensive suite of financial services provided by the organization to both existing and prospective clients.
- Facilitate team communication and activities. Propose innovative ideas, suggestions, and alternative wealth solutions by leveraging a team of specialists as necessary.
- Manage the sales pipeline and related activities to ensure a sufficient number of prospective opportunities are present and progressing through the sales cycle to meet established sales goals. Deliver tailored solutions effectively.
- Lead discussions regarding client relationship reviews with the committee. Continuously manage and assess the relationship to ensure that client goals and objectives are consistently met.
- Comply with relevant compliance and operational risk controls in accordance with company and regulatory standards and policies.
- Foster an inclusive environment that promotes diversity and reflects the values of M&T Bank.
- Uphold internal control standards, including the timely implementation of internal and external audit recommendations along with any issues raised by external regulators as applicable.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
As the manager of a portfolio of client relationships, the Wealth Advisor is accountable for coordinating the activities of the relationship team (including Investment Advisors, Financial Advisors, Private Bankers, etc.) and is ultimately responsible for the growth and retention of that client base. The Wealth Advisor focuses on the profitable expansion of fee revenue while maintaining the highest ethical standards and adhering to a fiduciary culture. This role is accountable for revenue growth, including the acquisition of new business and the ongoing management, growth, and retention of existing clients.

Required Education and Experience:
A Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 9 years of sales experience in the financial services sector, or alternatively, a combined minimum of 13 years of higher education and/or work experience, including at least 5 years of sales experience within the high net worth or ultra high net worth client segment.
Demonstrated success in implementing wealth management strategies.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Securities licensing, CFP, CTFA, CPA designation.
MBA (Master's degree in Business Administration) or JD (Juris Doctor).
M&T Bank is dedicated to providing fair, competitive, and market-informed compensation for our employees. The compensation range for this position is $159,000 to $265,950.31 annually (USD). The specific compensation for the successful candidate will be determined based on their unique combination of knowledge, skills, and experience.
