Job Summary and Qualifications

Become a part of our team as a Surgical Services Assistant and play a crucial role in delivering high-quality, patient-centered care by assisting with the care of patients throughout the surgical process.

The Surgical Services Assistant aids in transporting patients to and from surgical areas. This role also involves preparing the operating room for procedures by stocking supplies, cleaning workstations, and organizing equipment. The Surgical Services Assistant ensures a safe, clean, and hazard-free environment for patients, families, and staff.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Obtaining various equipment for upcoming surgeries, including carts, video equipment, and positioning devices.
  • Maintaining and stocking fluids, linens, PPE, and other supplies in the operating suite.
  • Verifying the identification of each patient being transferred.
  • Transporting and transferring patients using proper body mechanics and safety measures, especially for those with mobility issues or attached medical equipment.
  • Safely transporting various specimens to the appropriate departments.
  • Assisting with the cleaning and turnover of the operating rooms between cases and at the end of the day, returning equipment to the appropriate storage locations promptly after cleaning and disinfection.
What qualifications you will need:
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support certification must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
  • Experience in housekeeping or custodial work is beneficial.
