Job Summary

This role supports the HR team at the YMCA of Southeastern NC, a leading nonprofit organization dedicated to strengthening communities through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The HR Coordinator will maintain a positive and respectful work environment, coordinating intermediate-level HR functions such as recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, administration, reporting, and data entry.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in recruitment by posting job openings, screening resumes, and scheduling interviews.
  • Participate in the onboarding process for new employees, including preparing orientation and onboarding materials.
  • Support the HR team in maintaining employee records and updating HR databases.
  • Support the YESS Risk Management partnership, including monitoring incident reports, following up on claims, and MVR and compliance monitoring.
  • Assist with benefits administration, including enrollment, changes, and inquiries.
  • Help organize and coordinate training programs and events.
  • Provide general administrative support to the HR department, such as filing, data entry, and responding to inquiries.
  • Assist in employee relations activities, including recognition programs and employee engagement initiatives.
  • Collaborate with team members on special projects as assigned.
  • Stay current with HR trends and best practices to contribute innovative ideas to the team.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive HR information.
Requirements
  • Previous HR experience preferred.
  • Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's or Master's degree program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking skills with attention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with discretion.
  • Enthusiastic and eager to learn about various HR functions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and working well within a team.
  • Proactive and self-motivated with a positive attitude.
