As the Ophthalmology Clinical Supervisor at GBMC, you will oversee the clinical operations related to patient care in the ophthalmology department. Your role will be pivotal in ensuring that patients receive high-quality care while promoting a supportive and efficient work environment.

Education:
Graduate of an accredited medical program.

Licenses/Certifications:
Must hold a valid physician license in the State of Maryland. Completion of necessary CME credits for ongoing licensure is required. Board Certification in the relevant specialty is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Take charge of the initial assessment and treatment of patients in designated areas.
  • Conduct thorough medical histories and physical examinations, documenting findings accurately in the Electronic Medical Record.
  • Issue standard medical orders in accordance with hospital protocols.
  • Review and modify treatment plans based on patient progress and needs.
  • Assess the medical, social, and educational requirements of assigned patients.
  • Facilitate referrals to appropriate ancillary services and community resources as necessary.
  • Document patient progress and treatment plans comprehensively during each visit.
  • Establish medical diagnoses in alignment with established protocols.
  • Promptly refer critical or life-threatening conditions to the emergency department or specialist as required.
  • Provide educational support to patients and families regarding health management and treatment plans.
  • Review and discuss home care instructions with patients and families when necessary.
  • Engage in continuous professional development and mandatory training to enhance clinical skills.
