Position Overview:

The Walsh Group is in search of a Craft Training Superintendent to support the Director of Craft Training in managing both internal training programs and collaborations with Registered Apprentice Programs. This role is pivotal in fostering the professional growth of apprentices, helpers, and skilled tradespeople through effective training and mentorship.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the primary liaison for all craft professionals participating in internal training programs
  • Act as the main point of contact for apprentices in external Registered Apprentice Programs
  • Assist the Director in developing training materials for both classroom and hands-on instruction
  • Deliver training sessions through various formats including in-person, live online, and recorded formats
  • Support the Director in creating and implementing leadership training for foremen
  • Conduct foundational craft training for entry-level employees covering essential skills such as tool usage, print reading, construction mathematics, basic rigging, and safety protocols
  • Facilitate advanced training for journey-level employees on specialized construction topics based on expertise, including tool usage and installation techniques
  • Provide mentoring and coaching for craft professionals at all levels
  • Assist with divisional recruiting events as needed
  • Maintain reporting on career and training activities
  • Support the Director during divisional meetings and job site visits to promote craft training initiatives
  • Contribute to the development of new training programs and initiatives
  • Collaborate with regional managers on training and development efforts

Qualifications:

  • Proven journey-level proficiency in one or more trades: Carpentry, Concrete, Civil, Pipe, Structural Steel, Survey, Equipment Operation, or Mechanical/Millwright
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in the construction industry
  • At least 3 years of experience mentoring early-career craft professionals as a Journeyman, Foreman, or Superintendent
  • NCCER Craft Instructor certification or the ability to obtain it
  • Willingness to travel regularly (40-60%) to job sites and regional offices, with most weekends spent at home
  • Commitment to a two-year rotation for internal qualification
