Financial Counselor and Billing Clerk

JOB SUMMARY

Under the supervision of the Business Office Supervisor, the individual will oversee all billing and posting operations at United Medical Centers. This role encompasses all cashiering responsibilities in accordance with established guidelines and protocols. The position involves evaluating and assessing patients to ascertain their financial eligibility for clinic services.

The successful candidate will utilize the Primary Health Care (PHC) Screening Tool and the Automated Medicaider system to electronically document all applications and direct patients to suitable community programs. Additionally, the role includes providing information about the services offered by United Medical Centers to patients and the general public.

Compliance with relevant regulations and standards, including State/Federal regulations, TJC, DSHS standards, HRSA, and Compliance Standards, is essential.

EDUCATION

A high school diploma or equivalent is required, with preference given to candidates who have completed some business coursework.

EXPERIENCE/TRAINING

A minimum of one year of experience in billing practices is required, ideally within a healthcare setting. Cashier experience is mandatory. Familiarity with medical terminology is preferred. Candidates should possess the ability to type at least 40 words per minute and have required computer skills. Experience with Electronic Health Records (EHR) is advantageous.
