Overview

Urban Peak is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless. Our goal is to meet youth where they are and provide them with the assistance and support needed to become self-sufficient.

We offer a range of programs and services, including street outreach, a 40-bed shelter, daytime drop-in center, supportive housing, education and employment services, case management, life skills courses, behavioral health evaluations, meals, and more. Job Responsibilities

The Youth Housing Program Coordinator will be responsible for administering vouchers and maintaining the voucher program within the requirements of the Division of Housing. This includes working closely with private property owners, management, leasing agents, and participating households to maximize communication and improve housing voucher utilization. The successful candidate will also oversee, implement, and conduct annual and interim recertification in adherence with program requirements.

Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent with a minimum of five years of experience working with high-risk youth, OR a Bachelor's Degree in human services or a related field AND a minimum of three years of experience working with youth, OR A Master's Degree in social work, psychology or a related field AND minimum of two years of experience working with youth.
  • Certified in the Division of Housing Database Program Elite or able to complete training within the first 45 days of employment.
  • Certified Housing Quality Inspector of ability to become certified within the first 45 days of employment.
  • Must be QMAP certified or eligible for QMAP certification.
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required.
  • The ability to connect well, work effectively, and communicate in a culturally responsive manner with a diverse youth population.
  • An understanding of trauma-informed interactions and/or a willingness to learn and adopt this approach.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks and to assess and change priorities based upon agency and client needs.
  • Data collection and the ability to maintain accurate and thorough client files and HMIS database.
  • Skill in oral and written communications.
  • Skill in negotiating and mediating, particularly in sensitive situations.
  • Able to make sound decisions, using available information while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
  • Ability to work autonomously at off-site housing locations.
