Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Life Skills Manager to join our team at Urban Peak Denver. As a Life Skills Manager, you will play a vital role in providing direct supervision of youth at our shelter and/or housing programs.

About Us

Founded in 1988, Urban Peak is the only non-profit organization in Denver that provides a full convergence of services for youth ages 15 through 24 experiencing homelessness or at imminent risk of becoming homeless.

Our goal is to meet youth where they are and provide them with the assistance and support they need to become self-sufficient or obtain the necessary services they need to exit a life on the streets.

We strive to be a safe community for all youth, regardless of race, ethnicity, national origin, religion, class, educational background, sexual orientation, gender identity, or ability status.

Responsibilities
  • Facilitate group activities and discussions to promote positive youth development.
  • Provide crisis intervention with current clients in person or via phone counseling.
  • Ensure the safety and well-being of youth in your care.
  • Maintain a welcoming presence and support youth who come into the shelter.
  • Accurately document admission records and services received by clients or tenants.
  • Collect and maintain accurate data regarding client services.
Requirements
  • A High School Diploma or equivalent and two (2) years' of experience working with high-risk, adolescent populations in a shelter, residential, or transitional housing environment.
  • Lived experience reflective of the youth we serve encouraged but not required.
  • Ability to connect and work effectively with a diverse, resistant street youth population.
  • Knowledge and understanding of issues related to homelessness, mental health, and substance abuse among high-risk young adults.
  • QMAP certified or eligible for QMAP certification.
  • Ability to pass federal and state background checks and a pre-employment TB Screening.
