Position Summary
The Senior Automation Engineer is tasked with proposing, budgeting, developing, and implementing networked automation solutions aimed at bolstering Edmund Optics's competitiveness in the high-end optical components sector. This role involves providing technical guidance to both internal and external automation engineers, fostering collaboration and consultation.
Key Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and implement mechanical, electronic, and digital processes to optimize operational efficiencies and enhance yield.
- Offer expert guidance on Smart Automation and Industry 4.0 topics, encouraging dialogue and innovation.
- Establish process monitoring plans to ensure consistent and efficient operations.
- Provide timely support to relevant operational and quality assurance teams during the transition from pilot to production phases, while creating and maintaining comprehensive solution documentation.
- Collaborate with internal and external partners to enhance the overall capabilities of Edmund Optics.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Mechatronics, Mechanical Engineering, or a related engineering discipline, along with a minimum of 5 years of industry experience.
- Proven experience in setting up programmable logic controllers (PLC), single-board computers, and/or robotic or automated systems, preferably in an industrial context.
- Familiarity with Computer Aided Design (CAD) and Computer Aided Manufacturing (CAM) is advantageous.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with strong organizational and leadership capabilities.
- A collaborative team player with strong interpersonal skills in a multidisciplinary and multicultural environment.
- Strong analytical problem-solving abilities and meticulous attention to detail.
- Highly self-motivated with the capacity to work independently.
