The Legal Department at Amazon is seeking a highly skilled and motivated litigator to oversee its global portfolio of litigation and regulatory issues, while providing guidance on a diverse array of innovative legal and business risk management challenges.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Managing and supervising a broad spectrum of domestic and international disputes and regulatory matters.
  2. Engaging directly with government representatives, including regulatory bodies and law enforcement agencies.
  3. Overseeing overall case strategy, including the selection and management of external legal counsel.
  4. Evaluating risks and collaborating with senior leadership on risk management strategies.
  5. Coordinating responses to discovery requests.

This role will primarily focus on disputes and potential disputes related to Amazon's global logistics and transportation operations, which encompass order fulfillment and package delivery to customers. The World Wide Operations division includes warehouse management, Prime Air drone delivery, electric bicycle logistics, workplace safety, sustainability initiatives, and global trade compliance.

This position reports to an Associate General Counsel, Litigation & Regulatory, and is part of Amazon's Government & Regulatory Litigation team.

Minimum Qualifications:

  1. J.D. degree (or equivalent) and active membership in at least one state bar.
  2. A minimum of five years of experience in litigation and regulatory matters.
  3. Proven experience in complex domestic and/or international business litigation, including trial experience and advising parties and witnesses in pre-dispute and dispute resolution contexts.
  4. Experience as a federal judicial clerk.
  5. Prior federal or state government service, including experience in government litigation.
  6. Experience in a law firm setting.
  7. Trial experience.
  8. Ability to manage numerous critical projects independently in often ambiguous environments.
  9. Familiarity with the legal and regulatory landscape of the internet, software, and media industries.
  10. Proven ability to collaborate effectively with other attorneys, business clients, paralegals, and support staff.
  11. Experience working closely with and advising senior executives.
  12. Background in crisis management and response.
  13. Capability to handle multiple projects simultaneously.
  14. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  15. Strong business judgment, practical sense, and a good sense of humor.
  16. Commitment to the highest standards of ethics and professional integrity.

Our compensation reflects the labor market across various U.S. geographic regions. The base salary for this position ranges from $138,500/year in our lowest geographic market to $229,000/year in our highest geographic market. Compensation is influenced by several factors, including market location and may vary based on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
