Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Chair of the Department of Dermatology at VCU Health - MCV Physicians. The successful candidate will provide strategic leadership and vision for the department, fostering a culture of excellence in patient care, education, and research.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and direction for the department, aligning with the strategic goals of VCU Health - MCV Physicians.
  • Develop and implement plans to advance the department's clinical, educational, and research missions.
  • Collaborate with faculty, staff, and other stakeholders to achieve departmental goals and objectives.
  • Ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, advancing the department's reputation for excellence.
  • Develop and manage the department's budget, ensuring fiscal responsibility and compliance with institutional guidelines.
  • Recruit, retain, and develop a diverse and talented faculty, fostering a culture of inclusivity and respect.
  • Engage in strategic planning, identifying opportunities for growth and innovation within the department and the institution.
Requirements
  • Medical degree and board certification in Dermatology.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States and for a Virginia medical license.
  • Previous experience in academic leadership, preferably in a department of clinical excellence.
  • Demonstrated managerial and business acumen, with experience in financial management and budgeting.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Unimpeachable integrity and personal ethics, with a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Leadership experience in a matrixed academic environment, with a strong track record of collaboration and teamwork.
  • Experience in continuous quality improvement, with a demonstrated commitment to quality and safety in healthcare.
  • Ability to contribute to the institution's strategic direction, with a strong understanding of the academic health system and its challenges.
