Job Summary

The Virginia Commonwealth University School of Population Health is seeking a highly qualified and experienced individual to serve as the Chair of the Department of Epidemiology. This is a senior-level faculty position that requires a strong leadership presence, excellent communication skills, and a proven track record of success in academic administration.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide strategic leadership and vision for the Department of Epidemiology, ensuring alignment with the School's mission and goals.
  • Oversee and direct the Department's research, education, and service programs, ensuring excellence and innovation in all areas.
  • Recruit, hire, develop, and retain a diverse and talented faculty, ensuring a strong and inclusive academic environment.
  • Develop and implement effective administrative and financial management systems, ensuring compliance with university and departmental policies.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including faculty, staff, students, and community partners.
  • Engage in collaborative research and scholarship, securing extramural funding and promoting the Department's research agenda.
  • Provide mentorship and support to faculty, students, and staff, fostering a culture of inclusivity and excellence.
Requirements
  • PhD in Epidemiology or a related field.
  • Academic rank of Professor.
  • Internationally recognized excellence in epidemiological research, education, and service.
  • Successful administrative and leadership experience in an academic institution.
  • Experience in mentoring faculty, students, and staff.
  • Outstanding oral and written communication skills.
