Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship Position

The Department of Family Medicine at VCU is seeking a highly qualified Vice Chair for Research and Scholarship to lead our research team. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for fostering an environment that values and promotes diverse clinical, translational, practice-based, community, and educational research and scholarship across all department missions and locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist the Chair in promoting a culture of research and scholarship excellence
- Provide oversight and support to the department's research and scholarship efforts
- Advise the Department Chair and PIs on research and scholarship priorities, funding opportunities, and infrastructure support
- Develop and maintain annual operating budgets for research and scholarship programs
- Foster collaboration and innovation across all training sites
- Ensure compliance with departmental and university policies and standards
Requirements
- Eligible to obtain a license to practice medicine in the Commonwealth of Virginia
- Completed an accredited residency program in Family Medicine
- Board certified by the American Board of Family Medicine
- 3-5 years of experience in family medicine research and scholarship
- Demonstrated experience working in a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Direct experience leading research teams with a range of experience and interests
- Experience providing oversight for department or organizational budgets
- Coordinated multiple projects across a team of researchers
