Job Summary

We are seeking a highly qualified and experienced physician to serve as the Division Chair for Pediatric Surgery at the Commonwealth of Virginia. The successful candidate will be responsible for leading the Division of Pediatric Surgery and driving its continued growth and advancement.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the Division of Pediatric Surgery and develop strategic plans for its growth and advancement.
  • Provide clinical and research leadership in pediatric surgery, including mentoring junior faculty and residents.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with other departments and institutions to advance pediatric surgery research and education.
  • Recruit and retain top talent in pediatric surgery, including faculty and staff.
  • Manage the Division's budget and resources to ensure effective use of funds.
  • Represent the Division and the Department of Surgery at local, national, and international levels.
Requirements
  • Board certification in General Surgery and Pediatric Surgery.
  • Track record of external funding for research and education.
  • Commitment to resident education and teaching, as well as clinical research and innovation.
  • Ability to work in a complex matrix environment with high emotional intelligence.
  • Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Unique clinical skills, such as fetal surgery, and funding as an independent investigator.
  • Interest in global surgery and experience working in international settings.
  • Leadership experience in a clinical program, such as a residency director.
