Laboratory Technician I

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct and report routine and specialized laboratory analyses on clinical trial samples to ensure subject safety, adhering to established protocols.
  • Identify irregularities as specified in the study protocols.
  • Independently perform specimen processing and testing, including waived and moderate complexity tests, while ensuring the accuracy of results.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory instruments and equipment, executing minor repairs when necessary and knowing when to escalate issues to management.
  • Implement and practice quality control measures, including running controls, assessing data, documenting findings, and taking corrective actions as needed. Relay pertinent quality control information to supervisors.
  • Cross-train in various laboratory sections as required.
  • Calculate, input, and verify laboratory procedure outcomes.
  • Utilize the Laboratory Information System and eSource systems effectively.
  • Notify and document critical laboratory results to the Principal Investigator.
  • Engage in the assessment, development, and execution of new or revised testing protocols and procedures.
  • Exhibit proficiency in performing laboratory tests.

  • Complete all mandatory compliance and regulatory tasks, adhering to applicable policies and procedures.
  • Perform additional responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Medical Laboratory Science.
  • Clinical Lab Scientist license as mandated by state regulations (ASCP, AMT, etc.).
  • A minimum of 2 years of relevant experience.
