Position Title: Administrative Support Specialist - College of Humanities and Social Sciences (FWS)

Position Status: Federal Work Study

Position Summary/Purpose:

To provide assistance to the Dean, Faculty, and Administration in the effective functioning of college operations.

Primary Responsibilities/Accountabilities/Essential Functions:
  • Support various administrative functions.
  • Welcome all college visitors, including students and external guests, and guide them appropriately.
  • Coordinate interviews and meetings.
  • Create and modify documents using Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Become proficient in campus systems, such as Resource Scheduler, for room and meeting arrangements.
  • Handle phone communications in a professional manner.
  • Assist in managing the CHSS email inbox.
  • Maintain organization at the reception desk, ensuring supplies are stocked and the area is tidy.
  • Organize and maintain the copy room and break room.
  • Sort and distribute mail effectively.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Equipment Used and Responsibility:
  • Microsoft Office Suite.
Qualifications:
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficient typing abilities.
  • Comfortable working in a professional environment with diverse staff and faculty.
  • Service-oriented mindset.
  • Familiarity with GCU's campus and departments to assist guests, students, and staff.
  • Prior computer knowledge with the ability to copy, scan, and fax documents.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and assist.
  • Able to learn or possess prior knowledge of the Resource Scheduler system.
Experience/Education:

Grand Canyon University prioritizes a student-first approach. Therefore, all applicants must meet the following eligibility criteria for student employment:

• Must be enrolled at GCU as a full-time student in either a Bachelor's or Master's program.

• Maintain a minimum GPA of 2.0 for Bachelor's students or 3.0 for Master's students.

• Uphold good financial and academic standing with the University.

Failure to meet these requirements may result in termination.
