POSITION SUMMARY

As a Head Pastry Chef, you will be responsible for crafting a variety of breads and pastries. This includes the preparation of doughs and fillings, proofing, baking, and decorating as required. You will review production sheets to comprehend the assortment of baked goods to be created daily. Your role involves preparing and cooking food in accordance with recipes, quality standards, and food preparation checklists. You will maintain kitchen logs to ensure compliance with food safety programs and keep the Chef informed about surplus food items for the planning of daily specials.

Utilizing baking and measuring tools and equipment safely and appropriately is essential in this role. You will adhere to and enforce food safety handling policies and procedures, including personal hygiene protocols. Monitoring the temperatures of kitchen appliances and food, and reporting any issues to management is a critical part of your responsibilities. Throughout your shift, you will oversee the quality of food prepared and portions served.

In addition to culinary duties, you will assist management with hiring, training, scheduling, evaluating, counseling, and motivating employees; serving as a role model in the kitchen. Compliance with all company policies and procedures, including safety and security measures, is expected. You will report accidents, injuries, and unsafe working conditions to management and complete necessary safety training and certifications.

Maintaining a clean and professional appearance is vital, as is the confidentiality of proprietary information and the protection of company assets. Effective communication with colleagues and answering telephones with appropriate etiquette is required. Building and maintaining positive working relationships with team members to achieve common goals while handling sensitive issues with respect and confidentiality is essential.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATION

Education: Technical, Trade, or Vocational School Degree.

Related Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience.

Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience required.

License or Certification: None required.
