Key Responsibilities:

Customer Engagement:

• Assists customers with bakery selections and transactions
• Employs suggestive selling techniques to fulfill customer needs and enhance department sales
• Regularly announces the availability of freshly baked items to customers

Production Responsibilities:

• Skillfully crafts a diverse range of high-quality breads from scratch, including artisan pan breads, naturally fermented breads, and hearth breads (tasks encompass mixing, shaping, scoring, and baking all products)
• Creates various pan dulce pastries, adhering to visual training aids (VTAs)
• Executes production tasks efficiently (utilizing production planning tools); suggests modifications based on actual performance
• Properly finishes all baked goods to ensure an appealing presentation
• Maintains product quality through appropriate storage, handling, proofing, and planning of all baked goods
• Conducts quality checks on all products prior to display on the sales floor
• Ensures cake products are presented at the designated times
• Trains future Artisan Bread Specialists, Bakers, and Fryers
• Performs additional duties as required

Food Service Management:

• Organizes back storage, freezer, cooler, and production areas
• Assists with inventory management, including loading, unloading, moving, and storing products

Food Safety Compliance:

• Maintains cleanliness in the work area
• Adheres to H-E-B food safety and sanitation protocols
• Ensures all products comply with H-E-B code dating policies
• Meets productivity standards without compromising product quality
• Ensures potentially hazardous foods are stored at appropriate temperatures

Qualifications:

• 3+ years of experience in bakery specialization (preferred)
• 6+ months of experience in scratch mixing, shaping, and baking
• Completion of Bake Works and Fry Works training
• Successful completion of food sanitation and safety training

Essential Skills:

• Proficient in the operation of baking equipment, including setup, cleaning, and maintenance
• Familiarity with H-E-B systems (PC, symbol, scales, label machine)
• Strong customer service aptitude
• Effective communication and interpersonal skills
• Competency in reading and writing

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to function in a fast-paced retail environment, performing detailed and precise tasks
• Capacity to engage with Customers, remaining attentive to their needs
• Ability to frequently stand and walk
• Capability to lift up to 50 lbs and manage items exceeding 70 lbs
• Ability to occasionally perform various physical activities, including bending, stooping, and climbing

It is the responsibility of Partners to never exceed their safe lifting limits.
If an item is too heavy to lift, push, pull, or carry, the Partner must break it down into lighter, manageable components or seek assistance from another Partner or a manager.
