SMART IT People is seeking a Cloud Infrastructure Engineer for a contract to hire role within our client's core infrastructure engineering team. This team is dedicated to delivering cutting-edge shared infrastructure platform services while pursuing service management innovation as a competitive edge. Our client's engineers ensure stable and efficient cloud, recovery, storage, and network platforms to support their diverse service offerings. Qualifications / Requirements
- Hands-on experience in one or more public cloud environments and/or familiarity with web applications, virtualization technologies, operating systems, databases, networking, security, or software development.
- A strong intellectual curiosity and a natural ability to learn new technologies.
- 5+ years of progressive IT experience.
- Experience with Configuration Management tools (Ansible, Chef, Puppet, etc.).
- Proficiency in Infrastructure-as-Code practices using Ansible, Terraform, Pulumi, CloudFormation, ARM Templates, etc.
- Ability to collaborate across cross-functional technical teams to deliver projects.
- Experience with version control systems, including Git (GitHub, Bitbucket, Azure DevOps, etc.).
- Familiarity with programming languages (Python, BASH, Java, Ruby, Go, Javascript, Typescript, etc.).
- Experience with logging solutions (ELK, Aria Logs, Splunk, Sumo Logic, Datadog, etc.).
- Experience with monitoring and visualization tools (ScienceLogic, Grafana, Tableau, PowerBI, etc.).
- Hands-on experience in collecting performance data, analyzing, troubleshooting, and optimizing systems.
- An understanding of ITIL best practices in a service provider context.
- A passion for working in both internal and external customer-facing environments.
- Adequate professional experience and knowledge to fulfill job responsibilities.
- Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize and organize tasks effectively.
- Capability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.

- Prior experience in the managed services data center sector.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the design, deployment, and maintenance of production-scale systems across various application and infrastructure vendors.
- Design, build, test, and deploy highly scalable and resilient applications within diverse internal and public cloud environments.
- Support multiple infrastructure services prior to their launch through activities such as system design consulting, software platform and framework development, lifecycle management, capacity management, testing, quality assurance, and release management.
- Utilize automation to streamline the provisioning, management, and monitoring of applications and services through various scripting languages and Infrastructure-as-Code methodologies.
- Coordinate with Service Delivery, Development, and Infrastructure Engineering teams to design and implement zero-downtime deployment strategies, real-time logging, alerting, monitoring solutions, and code instrumentation.
- Monitor application performance and maintain observability over key metrics for various infrastructure workloads and services.
- Develop reusable automation following vendor best practices and guidelines.
- Create and maintain client design documentation (diagrams, runbooks, etc.).
- Collaborate as a team to automate the repetitive tasks associated with incident, configuration, change, and problem management.
- Possess familiarity with one or more data center infrastructure platforms and APIs such as Storage (NetApp, Pure, etc.), Network (Cisco, Arista, Juniper, etc.), Recovery (Commvault, Veeam, Zerto, etc.), Cloud/Virtualization (VMware, KVM, Proxmox, Nutanix, Azure, AWS, etc.).
- Provide recommendations on workload optimization, cost reduction opportunities, architecture, and design enhancements.
- Deliver quality internal and external customer service aligned with company values.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
