About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Research Agreements Associate to join our team at Duke University. The successful candidate will have a strong background in research agreements, contract negotiation, and administrative responsibilities.

Job Description

The Research Agreements Associate will be responsible for reviewing, drafting, negotiating, and processing research agreements with various stakeholders, including foundation sponsors, non-profit organizations, and government agencies. This role requires strong analytical and problem-solving skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.

  • Reviews and negotiates research agreements to ensure compliance with Duke policies and procedures.
  • Drafts and processes subagreements consistent with SOM policies and procedures.
  • Counsels senior staff on complex contract issues and negotiates terms and conditions with sponsors.
Required Skills and Qualifications

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree (JD or paralegal preferred) and a minimum of three years of relevant experience in contracting or research in an academic setting.
  • Strong technical writing skills and proficiency in database, word processing, and spreadsheet programs.
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple tasks under tight deadlines.
Salary and Benefits

The estimated annual salary for this position is $80,000 - $110,000, depending on experience. In addition to a competitive salary, we offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, retirement plan, and paid time off.
