Certified Nursing Assistant

Role Overview
The Certified Nursing Assistant - Hospice Aide is responsible for providing personal care, supportive services, and specific nursing tasks for patients and their families under the guidance of a Registered Nurse (RN).
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED, or a combination of education and experience
- Valid CNA certification in the state of employment
- At least six (6) months of experience as a CNA or Home Health Aide
- A valid driver's license and automobile insurance as per company policy
- Reliable transportation to fulfill work obligations
- Proficiency in using equipment with visual and auditory components
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal
- Ability to manage the emotional challenges of caring for patients and their families
- Capability to perform essential job functions, including lifting and transferring patients, with or without reasonable accommodation
- Physical access to various home or facility environments (e.g., navigating stairs, enduring heat without air conditioning)
- Willingness to interact with individuals with communicable diseases
- Successfully complete competency assessments for this role
- Represent the organization with professionalism through the care and services provided to clients
- Adhere to all relevant regulations and company policies to prevent fraud and abuse
- Maintain confidentiality regarding patients, families, and sensitive information
- Utilize resources responsibly and promote the organization through community involvement
- Engage in continuous professional development and share knowledge with colleagues
- Maintain required competencies and training hours as mandated by the organization
- Deliver patient and caregiver services according to the established Care Plan and organizational policies
- Employ safe body mechanics when assisting with patient mobility and transfers
- Support patients and caregivers in maintaining a clean and secure living environment
- Provide relief for caregivers as outlined in the Care Plan
- Transport necessary supplies and documents as directed by the RN
- Assist with activities of daily living under RN supervision
- Contribute to the Care Plan by reporting observations to the RN
- Communicate significant changes or concerns to the RN or Clinical Manager
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
To successfully perform the essential functions of this position, the following abilities are necessary: vision, hearing, speaking, walking, and manual dexterity.
Frequent requirements include: safely transferring and assisting patients; standing; sitting; reaching; lifting; bending; pulling; pushing; and balancing.
Occasional requirements may involve: stooping; crouching; kneeling; and climbing stairs.
This position requires consent to drug and/or alcohol testing following a conditional job offer, along with ongoing compliance with the Drug-Free Workplace Policy.
