Director of Engineering, Fulfillment Execution

Coupang is a leading e-commerce company that is revolutionizing the way people shop, eat, and live. We are committed to delivering exceptional customer experiences and are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Engineering Director to lead our Fulfillment Execution team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and build highly available and scalable systems to handle billions of promise data traffic.
  • Lead a team of engineers to develop and deploy large-scale global software applications, systems, platforms, services, or technologies.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define mission, vision, and roadmaps.
  • Participate in Agile project management methodologies to provide technical leadership and project management for all aspects of the software development lifecycle (SDLC).
  • Build, manage, and develop world-class engineers, including hiring recommendations and guiding and mentoring engineers and project managers within and outside of the team.

Essential Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience working directly within engineering teams in a fast-moving environment.
  • 3+ years of people management experience, managing engineers.
  • 3+ years of experience architecting and designing (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling) of new and current systems.
  • Extensive experience in managing mission-critical services with high throughput and low latency.
  • Experience in collaborating with cross-functional teams to define mission, vision, and roadmaps.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Solid people management skills to coach and lead high-performing software engineers and keep them motivated.
  • Excellent communication and analytical skills to shepherd communication with end users, technical, and business teams to collect requirements, describe product features, and develop technical designs to achieve business goals.
  • Knowledge of Agile software engineering practices and patterns for the full software development lifecycle, including coding standards, code reviews, build processes, testing, and live site operations.
  • Demonstrated leadership in cross-functional, highly collaborative environments.
  • Track record of developing engineers through various career stages and building high-performance teams.
  • Experience building complex, high-performance, and highly available distributed software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers.
  • Demonstrated focus on continuous improvement of systems, software, and processes through data analysis and metrics.
  • Able to independently operate and lead through ambiguous in fast-paced environments.

Compensation and Benefits

Coupang offers a competitive compensation package, including a base salary range of $184,000 to $376,000 per year, depending on location and experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, long-term and short-term disability insurance, employee assistance programs, and 401(k) matching.
