POSITION OVERVIEW

This role is essential for overseeing the daily functions of senior services, which encompasses member registration, program development, and event coordination, along with outreach and promotional activities. The position is situated within the Warford Activity Center.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Design, implement, and manage programs, activities, special events, and excursions tailored for the active adult community aged 50 and above.
  • Administer daily operational, fiscal, and administrative tasks for the Senior Services division.
  • Collaborate with municipal departments and local senior organizations.
  • Manage the NeighborHUB online community, including the website, event calendar, resource directory, and educational content on the City of Amarillo's website and social media platforms.
  • Work alongside the Marketing Coordinator to create and execute a comprehensive outreach and marketing strategy for the Senior Services division.
  • Assist in writing, editing, and coordinating the development of promotional and informational materials for the online community.
  • Identify and secure sponsorships and grant funding for relevant programs and services.
  • Act as a liaison to the Parks and Recreation Board, community organizations, and public/private agencies, addressing citizen inquiries, delivering informative presentations, and attending necessary meetings.
  • Recruit, supervise, train, and schedule contract instructors.
  • Coordinate, manage, and train volunteers involved in activities and programs.
  • Prepare, oversee, and manage the annual budget.
  • Maintain accurate records, gather and analyze data, and generate reports to assess the effectiveness of services, programs, and events.
  • Collaborate with community service providers to keep an updated calendar of activities and resource directory.
  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's Degree in Social Services, Health and Human Services, Public Administration, Gerontology, or a related field, complemented by at least five (5) years of programming or administrative experience; or a combination of education, training, and experience that equips the individual to fulfill the responsibilities of this position.
  • Possession of, or ability to obtain within thirty (30) days, a valid Texas Driver's License.
  • Preferred experience in marketing, digital communications, and website management.
  • Preferred experience in social services delivery and/or public service.

  • Experience in engaging with senior citizens.
  • Excellent problem-solving, time management, diplomacy, and organizational skills.
  • Knowledge of programming development and implementation principles.
  • Ability to manage multiple technical and administrative tasks while maintaining quality.
  • Proficient in customer service delivery systems and leading teams toward high performance.
  • Skilled in program planning, public speaking, coordination, and negotiation.
  • Capable of working independently and adapting to change and uncertainty.
  • Professional demeanor in serving the public and collaborating with city departments.
  • Ability to analyze complex issues and devise effective strategies and solutions.
  • Understanding of and compliance with City standards, safety regulations, and personnel policies.
