Nurse Practitioner for Internal Medicine Admissions

Job Summary

This position is for the Admissions/23 Hour Observation unit of Georgia Regional Hospital – Atlanta (GRHA), located at 3073 Panthersville Rd, Decatur, GA 30034.

Responsibilities

  • Conducts complete physicals, provides treatment, and counsels clients.
  • May, in some cases, prescribe medication.
  • Administers or orders diagnostic tests, such as x-ray, electrocardiogram, and laboratory tests.
  • Develops comprehensive plans of care.
  • Examines clients to obtain information about their physical condition.
  • Instructs and counsels clients about prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems of daily living, and health maintenance.
  • Interprets diagnostic test results for deviations from normal.
  • Makes tentative diagnoses and decisions about management and treatment of clients.
  • Obtains, compiles, and records client medical data, including health history, progress notes, and results of physical examination.
  • Performs therapeutic procedures, such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care, and infection management.
  • Prescribes therapy or medication with physician approval.
  • Visits and observes clients on hospital rounds or house calls, updating charts, ordering therapy, and reporting back to physician.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in nursing from an accredited college or university and current Georgia license to practice as an APRN in the specialty area, or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in physician assistant studies and two years of general medicine experience, or a Bachelor's degree in a related field from an accredited college or university and completion of a physician assistant training program of at least 24 months certified by the Accreditation Review Commission of the PA, ARC-PA and certification to practice as a Physician Assistant by the Composite State Board of Medical Examiners (or eligibility to obtain within one year).
