Job Summary

This position plays a critical role in supporting the University of California, Santa Cruz's mission to provide academic preparation programming for students. The successful candidate will work independently with assigned institutions and organizations to plan and implement a wide range of academic preparation programming, develop and maintain program visibility in schools, and develop and maintain collaborative relationships with K-14 and higher education institutions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Deliver individual and group advising services to K-14 students, maintaining relationships and providing guidance on post-secondary admission eligibility.
  • Develop and monitor student academic plans to ensure successful transition to higher education.
  • Plan and implement college-going field trips and activities, fostering a college-going culture among students.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with other college-going programs, promoting a cohesive approach to student support.
  • Train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of part-time staff, ensuring high-quality program delivery.
  • Produce program reports, collect student data, and track academic progress of program participants, informing program improvement and evaluation.
Requirements
  • Strong knowledge and experience working with educational equity programs, with a focus on supporting educationally disadvantaged students.
  • Experience designing, implementing, and monitoring academic/enrichment programs, with a proven track record of success.
  • Knowledge of K-12 and higher education institutions, with the ability to navigate complex systems and build relationships with stakeholders.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative relationships with school district administrators, fostering a collaborative approach to student support.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Significant experience advising and supporting educationally disadvantaged students, with a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing these students.
  • Bilingual written and verbal skills in English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
