Job Summary

We are seeking highly qualified candidates for a Fisheries Collaborative Program Specialist position at the University of California, Santa Cruz. The successful candidate will contribute to various field and laboratory research projects, analyze datasets, and contribute to presentations, reports, and peer-reviewed publications.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct research in fisheries biology, natural resource management, marine science, and related fields.
  • Analyze datasets and contribute to presentations, reports, and peer-reviewed publications.
  • Collaborate with researchers, students, and other stakeholders to advance the goals of the Fisheries Collaborative Program.
  • Develop and implement research projects, including designing experiments, collecting and analyzing data, and interpreting results.
  • Communicate research findings to various audiences, including academic and non-academic stakeholders.
Requirements
  • Master's degree or higher in a relevant field, such as fisheries sciences and management, marine biology and biological oceanography, ocean/marine sciences, oceanography, ecology, evolutionary biology, environmental science, biology, or a related field.
  • At least two years of post-baccalaureate experience in a relevant field, including research experience in fisheries biology, natural resource management, marine science, and related fields.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to design and implement research projects.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in a relevant field.
  • Experience with research methods and techniques, including field and laboratory experiments, data analysis, and statistical modeling.
  • Experience with programming languages, such as R or Python, and data management software, such as ArcGIS or SQL.
  • Experience with grant writing and research funding.
  • Experience with teaching and mentoring students.
