Job Title: Healthcare Customer Service Specialist - Pulmonary Function Lab

Position Overview:
The Healthcare Customer Service Specialist (CSS) plays a vital role in the patient care team, ensuring a welcoming and efficient experience for patients within an outpatient clinic setting.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Appointment Coordination:
    Manage both internal and external referrals, scheduling in-person visits, telehealth consultations, surgeries, and ancillary services using advanced scheduling systems. Maintain comprehensive knowledge of appointment types, locations, and specialties to facilitate a smooth patient journey.
  2. Patient Registration:
    Conduct patient registration during the scheduling process, which includes entering demographic information, verifying insurance details, and preparing necessary documentation.
  3. Check-In Procedures:
    Oversee high-volume patient check-in and check-out processes, ensuring compliance with health system standards. Collect required signatures and manage point-of-service collections, including copays and deductibles.
  4. Post-Visit Follow-Up:
    Assist in scheduling follow-up appointments and diagnostic orders, ensuring a comprehensive itinerary based on provider recommendations.
  5. Team Collaboration:
    Engage in daily team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives, fostering productive relationships with healthcare providers and clinical staff.
  6. Patient Experience:
    Support initiatives aimed at enhancing patient satisfaction, including effective communication of health system policies and procedures.

Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of one year of experience in customer service or healthcare.
  • Proficient in English, with strong communication skills.
  • Basic computer proficiency, including familiarity with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Completed coursework towards an Associate's or Bachelor's Degree.
  • Experience in clerical or customer service roles within a healthcare environment.
  • Bilingual candidates are encouraged to provide documented proof of language proficiency.
