Job Summary

The Business Risk Officer - Control Assurance is a strategic professional responsible for ensuring the effectiveness of controls within the Wealth business. This role involves designing and executing monitoring tests to assess control effectiveness, identifying and documenting issues, and recommending solutions to address risk and control gaps.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and execute monitoring tests to assess control effectiveness
  • Review and maintain monitoring activities to ensure they are fit for purpose
  • Identify, document, and communicate issues and recommend solutions to address risk and control gaps
  • Timely and accurate entry of controls monitoring test results into relevant tools
  • Summarize monitoring exceptions for Assessment Units through monthly reporting
  • Partner with Business AU Owners, Control Owners, and other stakeholders to ensure adequacy of Control / Monitor Design Assessments
  • Identify and escalate emerging risks resulting from controls testing findings
  • Partner with relevant teams within Risk and Controls for the set-up of new controls and changes to existing controls
  • Continually build best practices and improvements into controls monitoring work and tests
  • Contribute to the development of monitoring and testing processes improvements, standardization, optimization, and automation
  • Provide support to other Wealth initiatives as needed
Requirements
  • Minimum 5 years controls testing or equivalent experience in in-business controls, controls design, controls testing
  • Strong understanding of risk assessment processes
  • Advanced skills in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS SharePoint
  • Strategic thinker with strong analytical skills and ability to translate complex concepts in a concise manner
  • Openness to challenge and continuously challenging the status quo
  • Demonstrated leader capable of driving change
  • Ability to set priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced, highly matrix, dynamic environment
  • Self-motivated, highly adaptive, and able to work well under tight deadlines
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills with demonstrated ability to clearly articulate issues
  • Effective negotiation skills, a proactive and 'no surprises' approach in communicating issues and strength in sustaining independent views
  • Strong interpersonal skills for interfacing with all levels of internal and external audit and management
