About the Role:

The Commonwealth of Virginia's esteemed institution is seeking a highly motivated and enthusiastic individual to join our Admissions team as a Summer Admissions Ambassador. As a key representative of our university, you will play a vital role in showcasing the exceptional experiences and opportunities that our institution has to offer.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Deliver engaging and informative campus tours to prospective students and their families, highlighting the unique aspects of our institution.
  • Assist in the day-to-day operations of the visitation program, including virtual panels and tours, front desk support, and outreach to admitted and prospective students.
  • Develop and maintain a strong understanding of our institution's history, academics, student life, and student services, and be able to effectively communicate this information to visitors.
  • Represent the university in a positive and professional manner, responding to visitor questions and referring them to relevant campus resources as needed.
  • Communicate with prospective and admitted students in a variety of formats, both written and verbal.

Requirements:

  • Must have completed at least one semester of coursework at James Madison University.
  • Must be returning to JMU for school in fall 2024.
  • Must be available during weekdays (Monday-Friday).
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with excellent customer service skills.
  • Prompt, reliable, responsible, and professional, with a love of JMU and enthusiasm for the role.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience presenting to varied groups of individuals.
  • Students who have completed a year at JMU.

Working Conditions:

  • Students must be degree-seeking students, enrolled on at least a half-time basis (6 credits for undergraduate and 5 credits for graduate).
  • Students must have a 2.0 or better cumulative GPA.
