University Advising is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to become part of a well-respected, student-focused team of full-time academic consultants.
In alignment with the mission of fostering student academic achievement and involvement, members of the University Advising team are devoted to the holistic development of each student. They provide insights on curriculum requirements and academic standards, strengthen student connections with the university and the broader community, maintain high levels of accessibility and responsiveness, collaborate actively with colleagues across the institution, and engage in continuous professional growth.
This position is a full-time, 12-month, Administrative and Professional Faculty role within University Advising, reporting directly to the Associate Director of University Advising.
Key Responsibilities:
- Guide current and prospective exploratory undergraduates who are evaluating various academic paths; assist students transitioning between majors; and support unique student demographics, including international and returning students.
- Offer general academic advising assistance to students and families seeking guidance through various communication channels.
- Manage an assigned caseload of students, track academic progress, maintain regular communication with advisees, ensure accessibility, and connect students with campus resources to enhance their educational experience.
- Assist students in developing meaningful academic plans that align with their interests and aspirations, providing advice on General Education requirements, degree prerequisites, and academic opportunities.
- Participate in university-wide initiatives, committees, orientation activities, and recruitment events.
- Act as a resource for faculty and administrative staff, fostering effective partnerships with academic departments and offices across the university.
- Contribute to the University Advising team and the broader academic advising network through regular meetings, information exchange, and professional development activities.
- Utilize university-wide advising technology to maintain electronic student records and ensure data accuracy.
- Collaborate on efforts to keep online and printed advising materials current for students and colleagues.
- May have the opportunity to teach courses as needed, depending on qualifications and interest.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Master's degree.
- Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion.

- Attention to detail while maintaining a focus on broader objectives.
- Ability to work independently, collaboratively, and under supervision.
Preferred:
- Experience in academic advising with direct engagement with undergraduate students.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills and the ability to connect meaningfully with undergraduates.
- Strong oral and written communication skills, along with effective time management, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
- Familiarity with national trends and best practices in the academic advising field and higher education.
- Capability to manage multiple tasks and navigate integrated student information systems in a dynamic environment.
- Experience in understanding, interpreting, and explaining complex academic requirements, policies, and procedures.
