Job Summary

Cedars-Sinai seeks a skilled Clinical Nurse III, Oncology Specialist to provide high-quality patient care in our acute care setting. As a proficient and expert clinician, you will utilize your technical and organizational skills, as well as critical thinking ability, to deliver efficient and effective nursing services.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide and accurately document nursing process components and relevant interventions for direct and indirect Oncology patient care services.
  • Deliver comprehensive care services to complex patients, including the administration of medications and therapeutic agents.
  • Perform skin tests, immunizations, phlebotomy, and the initiation of peripheral venous access.
  • Observe, evaluate, and expeditiously alter the plan of care based on signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to medications/treatments, general behavior, and/or general physical condition.
  • Plan and implement individualized patient care in collaboration with interdisciplinary teams.
  • Provide care to special patient populations and patients with diverse cultural backgrounds.
  • Identify patient's readiness for learning and ability to follow directions/instructions and give consent.
  • Make special adjustments to patient care to the specific populations' needs.
  • Identify and assess patient safety concerns with respect to age and developmental considerations.
  • Intervene to provide a safe environment and evaluate the efficiency of intervention for the patient.
  • Provide assistance to co-workers, new staff, temporary staff, and students, and may serve as a preceptor.
  • When assigned charge nurse responsibility, coordinate unit activity throughout the shift, including the authorization of incidental overtime, initiate the chain of command as appropriate.
  • Participate in at least 50% of unit meetings and provide constructive input to assist in unit direction.
  • Function as a change champion and agent and participate in departmental quality improvement activities.
  • Participate in the completion of required skills and proficiencies.
  • Establish IV access utilizing peripheral or central catheters per protocol.
  • Administer IV therapy as ordered by MD.
Requirements
  • Associates Degree/College Diploma required.
  • Bachelor's degree of Science in Nursing (state accredited program) preferred.
  • RN California state license required.
  • Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) from American Heart Association or American Red Cross required.
  • National Recognized Specialty certification (i.e.: CCRN, CRN, CEN, OCN or applicable national certification) required.
  • Advance Oncology Certificate Nurse preferred.
  • Three (3) years of RN experience in an acute care setting required.
  • Three (3) years of experience in an Oncology specialty area highly preferred.
  • Two (2) years of critical care experience (i.e.: ED, PACU, ICU, Cath Lab, IR) highly preferred.
