Job Summary

The Nurse Practitioner - Inpatient Solid Oncology Specialist will provide advanced nursing care to patients with solid oncology conditions in an inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in oncology nursing and be able to work independently with minimal direction.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive history and physical examinations to patients
  • Interpret diagnostic data and formulate a plan of care in collaboration with physicians and other healthcare team members
  • Provide pharmacological management, independent follow-up care, assessment, and problem-solving
  • Provide patient education on disease process, pre/post chemotherapy, and outcomes
  • Assist with discharge coordination and provide ongoing updates to outpatient oncology attending and primary care physician
  • Develop and implement progressive information technology alternatives in the inpatient setting

Requirements

  • CA RN and CA NP License
  • MSN/DNP in Adult Acute Care (AG-ACNP) NP Specialty
  • National Certification in NP Specialty
  • BLS certification from American Red Cross or American Heart Association
  • NP, State of CA NP Furnishing with Schedule II, Additional: NPI #, DEA #, Enrollment in PECOS, Enrollment in CURES
  • Oncology experience as a NP
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical, and academic personnel
  • Skill in working independently and following through with minimum direction
  • Ability to set priorities
  • Demonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed, and grammatically correct correspondence
  • Document patient care in a concise and comprehensive manner
