The Oncology Nurse Specialist will play a crucial role in implementing various cancer center activities and projects, providing support for all cancer care activities in the Marian Cancer Program. This position will serve as a primary resource for education, personal counseling, advocacy, and problem-solving for patients, family members, and staff.

The ideal candidate will have extensive knowledge of oncology nursing principles and practice, with a minimum of 6 years of clinical medical-surgical nursing experience, including at least 3 years of recent clinical experience in oncology. National Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN) is required.

Responsibilities

  • Implement cancer center activities and projects
  • Provide support for all cancer care activities in the Marian Cancer Program
  • Act as a primary resource for education, personal counseling, advocacy, and problem-solving
  • Uphold and apply standards established by the American College of Surgeons to ensure continued accreditation as a Community Cancer Center
  • Support quality care by participating and supporting utilization review and quality improvement activities

Requirements

  • Minimum of 6 years of clinical medical-surgical nursing experience
  • At least 3 years of recent clinical experience in oncology
  • National Certification in Oncology Nursing (OCN)
  • Experience with administrative and/or educational nursing role highly desired
