Job Summary

The University of California seeks a skilled and compassionate Oncology Nurse Navigator to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide expert guidance and support to patients and their families throughout their cancer journey.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Facilitate seamless coordination of care across various healthcare settings, ensuring continuity of care for oncology patients from diagnosis through treatment, and into survivorship or end-of-life care.
  • Provide ongoing support and education to patients and their families, helping them navigate the healthcare system and understand their treatment options.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for patients, addressing concerns and guiding them through their healthcare journey.
  • Apply clinical knowledge and expertise in oncology to advocate for the best patient outcomes.
  • Engage in patient advocacy to ensure that patients receive appropriate care in a timely manner, reflecting evidence-based practices.
  • Stay current with advancements in oncology care by participating in ongoing education, training, and professional development.
  • Provide education to patients, families, and healthcare staff as needed.
  • Engage in ethical decision-making and utilize evidence-based practices in patient care.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures that promote quality and safety in oncology care.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, including physicians, social workers, and other healthcare professionals, to develop and implement comprehensive care plans.
  • Take on leadership roles within the care team to advocate for best practices in patient care.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient outcomes and ensuring compliance with professional standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Current, valid CA RN license, required
  • MSN, required
  • BLS certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross, required
  • Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN), required
  • Oncology Nursing Society (ONS) Chemotherapy Immunotherapy certification, required
  • At least 3 years of recent experience RN experience with Oncology patient population, required
  • Academy of Oncology Nurse Navigator (AONN) certification, preferred
