Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician II to join our team at PeaceHealth. As a Pharmacy Technician II, you will play a critical role in assisting our pharmacists in providing pharmaceutical care to our patients.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in preparing and dispensing medications
  • Perform technical job functions, including preparing IVs, PCA's, and Epidurals
  • Package drugs into unit dose packaging and maintain packaging records
  • Run fill-lists and prepare medications for Cubies and Pyxis stations
  • Deliver medications and IVs to patient care areas
  • Deliver controlled substances to patient care areas and reconcile substance inventory counts
  • File completed prescriptions alphabetically on the shelf for patient pickup
  • Answer the outpatient window and ring out refills as requested by a pharmacist
  • Operate cash register and related front counter tasks
  • Reconstitute medication by adding a specific quantity of distilled water
  • Handle nonprofessional phone calls from patients, provider offices, and staff
  • Enter outpatient prescriptions into the computer and prepare labels for medications
  • Key punch patient charges and credits
  • Purchase medications from suppliers, check in the order, process invoices, credits, and backorders
  • Restock medications on the shelves as needed
  • Inspect medications for outdates in patient care area Pyxis stations on a monthly basis and in central pharmacy as assigned
  • Participate in quality improvement activities as requested by management
  • Participate in educational in-services as requested by management
  • Promote a safety-conscious work environment
  • Maintain assigned work areas and equipment in clean and orderly condition

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Accredited Pharmacy Technician program from a Pharmacy Commission-approved training program
  • Minimum of 1 year experience in hospital pharmacy utilizing unit dose, IV admixtures, and pharmacy computer systems preferred
  • Experience with Excel and Work preferred
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician - National required
  • Certified Pharmacy Tech - Washington required

Working Conditions:

  • Lifting: Ability to move around area with occasional sitting
  • Occasional squatting/kneeling/bending
  • Fine motor skills to grasp and perform precise procedures frequently
  • Frequent reaching
  • Lift/Carry: Occasionally up to 30 lbs
  • Push/Pull: Occasionally up to 14 lbs force

Environmental Conditions:

  • Exposure to toxic or caustic chemicals

Mental/Visual:

  • Vision and hearing required within normal limits (glasses, contacts, hearing aids permitted)
  • Ability to communicate and exchange accurate information
