Community Action of Southeast Iowa is seeking a dedicated and passionate Early Childhood Educator to join our team. In this role, you will play a vital part in shaping the lives of young children by providing a nurturing and stimulating learning environment.

As an Early Childhood Educator, you will be responsible for implementing engaging lesson plans that promote cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development. You will create a safe and inclusive classroom where children feel supported and encouraged to explore their world.

Responsibilities:
  • Plan and deliver age-appropriate activities that foster learning and development in all areas.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that encourages participation and collaboration.
  • Observe and assess children's progress, documenting their achievements and areas for growth.
  • Communicate effectively with parents regarding their child's development and progress.
  • Maintain a clean and organized classroom space that is conducive to learning.
Qualifications:

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A strong understanding of early childhood development principles and practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to work effectively with children of diverse backgrounds and abilities.
  • Patience, creativity, and a genuine passion for working with young children.
Skills:

You should possess:

  • Proficiency in basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Ability to interpret graphs and understand percentages.
  • Familiarity with computer operations, including Microsoft Office products.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and the capacity to follow instructions effectively.
Other Requirements:

This position requires:

  • Regular travel throughout our service area, with occasional state and nationwide trips.
  • A valid driver's license, reliable transportation, and insurability.
  • Successful completion of a national criminal record check.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Mandatory Child Abuse and Neglect training.
  • Medication Administration training.
  • Universal Precautions training.
  • Bus Monitor training.
  • Nutrition/Civil Rights training, as required by regulatory agencies.
Physical Demands:

This role involves:

  • Regularly talking, hearing, tasting, and smelling.
  • Sitting on the floor and low chairs, reaching with hands and arms, and stooping, kneeling, crouching, bending, or crawling.
  • Standing, walking, running, and climbing or balancing.
  • Regularly lifting and/or moving up to fifty (50) pounds.
  • Lifting and holding children ages three through five years old.
  • Supervising a classroom of up to sixteen (16) children.
Work Environment:

You will work in:

  • An environment regularly exposed to outside weather conditions.
  • An environment regularly exposed to childhood illnesses.
  • A noisy environment at times.
  • A fast-paced and dynamic setting that may require adaptability to changing schedules.
