Position Overview

Our mission encompasses providing essential legal, social, and health services to diverse populations including refugees, unaccompanied minors, and survivors of trafficking across various regions.

Program Context

In collaboration with the U.S. Department of State and the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services, USCRI is engaging in the Welcome Corps initiative. This innovative program empowers groups of private citizens to form Private Sponsorship Groups (PSGs) aimed at facilitating the resettlement of refugees. These groups play a critical role in helping refugees acclimate to their new environment, achieve self-sufficiency, and thrive in their new communities.

USCRI is positioned to act as a Private Sponsorship Organization (PSO) within the Welcome Corps framework, leveraging decades of experience in refugee resettlement. With a robust network of field offices and affiliates, USCRI is committed to providing comprehensive support to PSGs, ensuring they fulfill their responsibilities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

  • Provide guidance and oversight to PSGs throughout the sponsorship period, including pre-arrival preparations.
  • Offer mentorship and support post-arrival to ensure the effective delivery of core services.
  • Develop strategies to prevent sponsorship breakdowns and respond effectively when they occur.
  • Implement policies to safeguard the well-being of refugees, addressing risks such as exploitation and violence.
  • Review and analyze PSG reports at 30 and 90 days post-arrival.
  • Coordinate with the Community Sponsorship Hub regarding PSG activities and refugee travel.
  • Devise and execute recruitment and training strategies for PSGs.
  • Collaborate with USCRI's various programs to share best practices and resources.
  • Document insights and lessons learned to enhance the Welcome Corps initiative.
  • Contribute to public communications and outreach efforts as necessary.
  • Work collaboratively within the Refugee and Social Services Division to achieve organizational goals.

Qualifications

A Master's degree in social work or a related discipline, or a Bachelor's degree with substantial relevant experience is required.

  • Experience in refugee support programs or similar initiatives.
  • Proven ability to provide training and technical assistance.
  • Experience in volunteer recruitment and mobilization.
  • Strong understanding of the needs of refugees and immigrants.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
  • Willingness to travel domestically as needed.
  • Commitment to USCRI's values and dedication to human rights advocacy.
  • Proficiency in a second language is advantageous.

Training and Development

  • Completion of USCRI's Orientation and Program Trainings is mandatory.
  • Additional training may be required as determined by supervisors.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to perform tasks requiring manual dexterity and visual acuity.
  • Capacity to engage in prolonged periods of sitting and standing.
  • Occasional lifting and physical activity may be necessary.
