About the Role

As a Category Manager/Sr Category Manager, Sustainable Aviation Fuel, you will be responsible for developing and implementing comprehensive strategic programs related to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and jet fuel supply. This includes addressing pricing, acquisition, total cost, lead-time and supply, as well as managing contracts and suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Represents the company in business transactions with both internal and external organizations
Creates and manages strategies, negotiations, RFPs, and contracts related to Sustainable Aviation Fuel (SAF) and jet fuel purchase
Creates, negotiates, implements and manages SAF and fuel supply contracts while effectively developing and promoting strategic partnerships with SAF and jet fuel suppliers
Ensure American Airlines' compliance with SAF mandates and achieve American's published decarbonization goals by acquiring in-depth knowledge of national and regional SAF mandates (RefuelEU, UK SAF Mandate Consultation, France SAF Mandate, etc.)
Works closely with internal American Airlines customers and stakeholders to understand their business needs, objectives, product/service requirements and the broader operational processes related to SAF and jet fuel supply
Effectively communicates with appropriate management levels both internally and externally
Proactively manage fuel shortage/disruptions and keep all related parties informed of the status
Identifies opportunities for improvement and makes constructive suggestions for change
Assists with the Supplier Diversity program, as necessary

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in relevant field
3 years related work experience
Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, Business Administration, Business Management, Finance, Accounting, or other related field
Knowledge of SAF, oil & gas industry
Strong analytical and negotiation skills
Process Mapping abilities
Supplier Risk Analysis
Vendor Relationship Management
Skilled in Microsoft Office (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
A potential team leader with strong communication skills
Understanding of supply chain concepts, with work experience applying those concepts
Negotiating and influencing skills
Self-directed and resourceful with the ability to handle multiple, simultaneous tasks with exhibited follow through and initiative
Business understanding, particularly in total cost management and financial analysis, and supplier management
Understanding and use of technical tools for analysis, problem solving, forecasting and quality improvement
Proficient in Excel
High ethical standard
