Position Overview:
The Senior Reliability Engineer's primary responsibility is to enhance asset availability. This role involves leveraging equipment history, conducting root cause analysis, and applying statistical methods to eliminate recurring equipment failures. The Reliability Engineer is also tasked with developing the equipment asset management strategy, maintenance documentation, and planning for new equipment.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborates with project engineering to ensure the maintainability of new and modified systems.
  • Participates in the final verification of such systems.
  • Guides initiatives to ensure the reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, controls, and safety/security systems.
  • Defines, designs, develops, monitors, and refines the Preventive/Predictive maintenance process for optimization.
  • Creates operational and maintenance instructions for equipment.
  • Develops and consults on a comprehensive lubrication program, including requirements, frequencies, and application methods.
  • Plans inspections, adjustments, replacements, and overhauls for selected equipment.
  • Possesses a thorough understanding of vibration analysis, thermography, and other predictive analysis tools, along with the ability to interpret results.
  • Recommends protective measures for equipment against environmental factors.
  • Coordinates efforts with asset owners and maintenance management to ensure comprehensive understanding and endorsement by all stakeholders.
  • Works with planner/scheduler to ensure timely execution of PM/PdM services and inspections, with prompt corrective actions.
  • Aims to reduce and enhance maintenance tasks wherever feasible, ensuring efficient and reliable operation of plant, processes, and equipment while maximizing the economic lifespan of assets at optimal costs.
  • Develops engineering solutions to recurring failures and other maintenance challenges.
  • Identifies and resolves chronic, repetitive failures and costly equipment issues.
  • Analyzes equipment history to assess the effectiveness of maintenance efforts.
  • Conducts root cause analysis.
  • Provides technical guidance to maintenance teams and asset owners.
  • Implements strategies to minimize maintenance needs and eliminate failure occurrences.
  • Increases Mean Time Between Failures (MTBF).
  • Decreases Mean Time To Repair (MTTR).
  • Supports planner/scheduler in developing complex work procedures that are technically, environmentally, or safety-oriented.
  • Contributes to planning realistic production capacity based on preventive maintenance time requirements and failure history.
  • Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions.
  • Establishes a standardized program influencing the selection of materials, equipment, and spare parts.
  • Ensures that spare parts lists, equipment manuals, and schematics are provided for all new installations, adhering to established standards.
  • Stays updated on and applies advancing maintenance technologies as applicable.
  • Collaborates closely with Maintenance Technicians to understand equipment conditions, root cause analysis of chronic issues, and proactive maintenance strategies.
  • Mentors less experienced engineers.

Education and Experience Requirements:

Required:

Education:
Bachelor's Degree in Reliability, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering is required.

Experience:
Five or more years of experience with production equipment operation or a master's degree with three years of experience. Candidates must demonstrate the ability to effectively manage projects and lead teams. Proficiency in MS applications, Control, and Swagelok Data Warehouse is essential. Candidates should be adept at manipulating and analyzing data to provide recommendations for equipment enhancements.

Skills/Knowledge:
Strong mechanical aptitude. Basic statistical analysis and DOE skills are required.
