Overview:

The Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in delivering comprehensive medical and surgical care to patients. This includes gathering and documenting patient information, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, coordinating necessary tests and consultations, and providing direct patient care services, which encompass prescribing medications and other necessary therapies.

Key Responsibilities:


• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals while adhering to the regulations and guidelines governing advanced practice nursing, ensuring practice within the appropriate advanced specialty and role based on educational qualifications.

• Operate independently or in partnership with the healthcare team to observe, assess, diagnose, intervene, evaluate, rehabilitate, counsel, and educate patients experiencing health changes, as well as promote health and prevent illness.

• Utilize established protocols and written authorizations to provide medical care effectively.

• Assess and manage patient health concerns, addressing both actual and potential conditions in various healthcare settings, including hospitals and clinics.

• Identify, evaluate, and address health promotion and disease prevention issues within the patient population while delivering high-quality care.

• Responsible for diagnosing and treating a range of acute, chronic, and long-term health issues.

• Develop, implement, and assess healthcare treatment plans tailored to individual patient needs.

• Conduct thorough history-taking and physical examinations for patients across all age groups, in accordance with the scope of practice.

• Analyze laboratory and radiological findings to inform patient care decisions.

• Employ critical thinking to customize patient care strategies aimed at managing illnesses, enhancing well-being, and promoting healthy lifestyle choices.

• Prescribe medications and supportive therapies to sustain health and well-being.

• Execute advanced procedures as authorized by the credentialing committee.

• Educate patients and their families on preventive care, medical conditions, and the proper use of prescribed treatments and medications.

• Foster collaborative relationships with medical staff to facilitate consultation, collaboration, and referrals.

• Stay informed by synthesizing new knowledge from professional development opportunities and literature.

• Instruct other healthcare professionals in clinical settings and community environments regarding specialized practices and techniques.

• Engage in basic science and clinical research initiatives.

• Compile statistical reports and analyses to monitor progress, identify adverse trends, and formulate recommendations.

• Maintain accurate, legible, and confidential medical records, documenting all evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations in compliance with regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • Active APRN License in the state of employment
  • Current RN License in the state of employment or compact
  • BLS Certification
