Overview:

The Nurse Practitioner plays a crucial role in delivering medical and surgical care to patients. This includes gathering and documenting patient information, performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, and coordinating necessary tests and consultations. The Nurse Practitioner also provides direct patient care, which encompasses prescribing medications and therapies as required.

Key Responsibilities:


• Collaborate with other healthcare professionals while adhering to the regulations and guidelines governing advanced practice nursing, ensuring practice remains within the designated advanced practice category.

• Operate within the advanced specialty aligned with the educational qualifications attained.

• Independently or collaboratively assess, diagnose, intervene, evaluate, rehabilitate, counsel, and educate patients experiencing health changes, while promoting health and preventing illness.

• Utilize authorized mechanisms for delivering medical care, which may include established protocols or written directives.

• Assess and manage health issues, addressing both actual and potential conditions in various healthcare settings.

• Identify and tackle disease prevention and health promotion challenges within the patient population while ensuring high-quality care.

• Responsible for diagnosing and treating a range of acute, chronic, and long-term health conditions.

• Develop, implement, and evaluate treatment plans tailored to patient needs.

• Conduct comprehensive patient histories and physical examinations across all age groups, as per scope of practice.

• Analyze laboratory and radiological results to inform patient care.

• Employ critical thinking to customize patient care strategies aimed at managing illnesses and enhancing overall well-being.

• Prescribe necessary medications and supportive therapies to sustain health.

• Execute advanced procedures as authorized by the credentialing committee.

• Provide education to patients and families regarding preventive care, medical conditions, and the use of prescribed treatments and medications.

• Foster collaborative relationships with medical staff to facilitate consultation, collaboration, and referrals.

• Integrate new knowledge acquired from professional development opportunities into practice.

• Educate peers and other healthcare professionals on specialized practices and techniques relevant to the clinical environment.

• Engage in basic science and clinical research initiatives.

• Prepare reports and analyses to track progress, identify adverse trends, and formulate recommendations.

• Maintain accurate, legible, and confidential medical records, documenting all evaluations, diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, and education in compliance with relevant regulatory standards.

Qualifications:

  • Master of Science in Nursing
  • 2-3 years of relevant experience preferred
  • APRN License in the state of practice
  • RN License in the state of practice or compact
  • BLS Certification
